I highly recommend a solid state drive if you can afford it.

In addition to a regular 1TB, or as a stand-alone component?

To use as a OS/Software drive, then use the 1TB as a separate storage drive for media etc

I have the above setup and my PC boots to desktop in 30 seconds (windows 7)

hes right, SSD should boot the os in 7 seconds. you see, if you have an SSD and a standard drive you are just wasting your money as the OS still needs to parse the separate drive. SSDs are a total waste of money at this stage yet.

i just timed this shitty win 7 pc at school that i use and it booted up in 40 seconds. This is kinda old and I had to put in a password and choose other things, like which OS i was going to use. Factor in those and it was around 30 seconds.
